Staying hydrated is very important for us to function normally. Many health experts and celebrities believe that drinking Alkaline water keeps them hydrated as it has ultra-hydrating properties. In this article, we’ll learn how Alkaline water keeps your body hydrated.

Many health enthusiasts believe that drinking Alkaline water is much more hydrating than drinking our regular water, but how Alkaline water keeps us hydrated.

We’ll look into that, but first, let’s see what hydration is & why it is important.

What is Hydration & Why is it Important?

We all know that water is essential for every cell, tissue, and organ of our body. Drinking sufficient water is crucial to ensure normal bodily functions, like regulating the body temperature, keeping joints lubricated, preventing infections, delivering nutrients to cells, keeping organs function properly, and improving sleep quality, cognition, and mood.

Health specialists suggest that we should drink about 6–8 glasses of water, well, it is enough to start, but you should not limit the intake to that. You can drink water whenever you are thirsty.

When you exercise, your body starts losing water, and that can reduce aerobic functions. Even the 2% loss of water can negatively impact your physiological performance.

Over time, dehydration can increase the risk of heat strain, and it is also the cause of cardiac drift, which occurs when your heart rate increases while the blood pumped out of the heart decreases.

So it is extremely important to stay hydrated all the time to reduce the life risk.

What Makes Alkaline Water the Best Hydration Drink?

Before we talk about why Alkaline water is the best hydration drink, let’s get down to the basics of Alkaline water.

Alkaline water is the water that has been ionized, which means that the pH level of the water has been raised by removing all the harmful substances from it and then incorporating necessary minerals like magnesium & calcium.

A pH level is a number, which measures how acidic or alkaline the water is on a scale of 0 to 14. Generally, the pH level of regular water is 7, which is neutral, and the pH level of Alkaline water is in the range of 7–14. However, pH alone is not enough to confer much alkalinity to water, it should also contain alkaline minerals and negative Oxidation-Reduction Potential (ORP).

Now that you know what is Alkaline water, let’s see how it keeps our body hydrated.

A 2016 study about “Effect of electrolyzed high-pH alkaline water on blood viscosity in healthy adults” shows the difference in people’s blood viscosity who drank Alkaline water & who doesn’t.

The study included 100 participants who performances mild exercise, half of whom drank Alkaline water, and the other drank regular water after the practice.

The analysts then measured their blood’s thickness and viscosity. Blood viscosity is the measure of hydration in the body; the lower the blood viscosity, the higher the hydration level.

The researchers learned that those who drank Alkaline water had a lower viscosity than those who have regular water. They observed that the people who drank regular water experienced a 3.36% drop in their blood viscosity, whereas the Alkaline water group experienced a 6.3% increase.

All in all, we can say that yes, Alkaline water hydrates our body more thoroughly than regular water.

The Best Source of Alkaline Water

If you are planning on switching to Alkaline water, I would suggest you install an Alkaline water ionizer at home. It is the most convenient option for you. When you are looking for Alkaline water purifiers, just do your research; many brands in the market are selling unreliable purifiers. They are claiming that their products are original Japanese products, which is not true.

If you are looking for the original Japanese Alkaline water purifier, check out Fujiiryoki’s products. This brand is originally from Japan, unlike many others that claim to be.
