Alkaline diet or Alkaline ash diet is quite a trend nowadays as more and more celebrities are adopting it. But what is the Alkaline diet?? Is it really worth the hype?? Is it an appropriate diet for everyone?? There are too many questions among folks regarding the Alkaline diet plan that I’ll try to answer in this article.

Is the food you are consuming acidic or alkaline?? Many reputed dieticians and studies suggest that the Alkaline diet will alter pH balance in your body, which will ultimately lead to improved overall health. It will also assist in promoting weight-loss and even combat life-threatening diseases like cancer.

These are some big promises, right??

First, let’s see what is Alkaline diet and then we’ll see if there is any truth in these claims.

What is Alkaline Diet??

The Alkaline diet is also popular as the Alkaline ash diet or Alkaline acid diet among the promoters. It is designed based on the theory that some foods can produce acid in the human body that is extremely harmful. It can alter the ratio of acid and alkalinity in the body, which is measured on a scale of 0 to 14.

It is believed by the promoters of this diet that eating certain foods or drinking certain beverages can change your body’s pH level.

The foods that have a low pH level can create an acidic environment in your body, which is an ideal condition for allowing conditions like cancer, osteoporosis, kidney stones, and obesity to take root. Whereas the healthy foods that have a higher pH level do not allow those conditions to grow, thus allowing the normal bodily functions.

What you can & can’t eat??

The alkaline diet is designed around the pH level of the food. If you want to follow the Alkaline diet, you’ll have to follow the alkaline food listed down below. You must have to steer clear of acidic food and limit neutral food and focus on alkaline food.

Health Benefits of Alkaline Diet

There is no solid proof that the Alkaline diet can balance out the pH level of the body, but the promoters of this diet are convinced that this diet is quite beneficial. Below are some Alkaline diet benefits that the supporters are claiming but are yet to be supported by the scientists:

  • The alkaline diet has fewer calories, and thus it promotes weight loss.
  • Drinking alkaline water and following an alkaline diet raises the urine pH, which reduces the chance of getting kidney stones.
  • It is believed that not consuming meat and eating more fresh fruits, vegetables, and grains might prevent cancer.
  • It is also believed that following an Alkaline diet might support chemotherapy.
